Renn Fayre would not happen without all the awesome volunteers who help out each year. If you'd like to help out with one of these organizations, click on their name for more information and to sign up for a shift.
Karma Patrol is the volunteer organization dedicated to everyone's safety and health during Renn Fayre. To accomplish this, Karma Patrollers walk around campus, giving those who need it food (bagels) and water, and helping folks who have partied a bit too much to get help or a place to rest. Karma Patrol also runs the Karma Lounge, a place where people can rest and, in the case of those with a little too much something in their systems, be watched to make sure they don't have any problems. Karma Patrol works extensively with Whitebird, the event medical group that comes to campus for Renn Fayre.
Boundary Patrol is the volunteer security group that operates during Renn Fayre with a primary goal of maintaining the privacy of the "private party" that is Renn Fayre; that is, we act to assure that the only people on-campus during the weekend are students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. Boundary Patrol works extensively with Community Safety to accomplish this goal.
Kleen-Up & Salvage Krew is dedicated to keeping campus pristine over the weekend, Kleen-up Krew walks around during key hours and picks up garbage. Salvage Krew dismantles Renn Fayre structures and recycles the wood so it can be used for projects next year. Keeping our campus trash-free allows Renn Fayre to go on, and recycling helps keep Renn Fayre costs down. Major Renn Fayre Karma.
The feast is the cherished gluttony of Renn Fayre. Midday on Saturday there is a campus wide feast held in the quad for reedies to stuff their faces silly with yummy non-commons food. This event fosters a great sense of community as we all wait in line (except those brave enough to pict) for the meal of the weekend. The feast also serves the practical purpose of putting some food in our bellies before the festivities of Saturday night hit campus like a run away freight train. The feast is funded, and run, by students. The money to finance such a decadent event comes from boardpoint donations throughout the year and student body funds. And all the cooking, preparation, and clean up falls on student shoulders as well (though we are graciously allowed to use the kitchens in commons), which is where volunteers become so very important.
If you have extra board points, donate them to the feast on IRIS!
Working security for the beer garden is an easy way to get involved, save some cash and have fun at Renn Fayre. You must be 21+ with a valid state issued (any state) ID by the day of your shift in order to participate, please do not sign up for security shifts if you are not 21 or over. A mandatory security training session will happen the week before RF.
Individuals working any two shifts throughout the weekend, or the Saturday 22:00-01:00 shift, are given a free wristband for the entire weekend ($20 value) and will receive a Beernation T-shirt. Working security requires that you are not under the influence of any substance while working.
Peanut butter and Jelly is a time honored tradition at Renn Fayre, help us keep the PB&J flowing in an effort to keep patrons feed and hydrated. This year the PB&J station will be run in part by Phys Plant staff. There are many time slots available and we welcome all the help we can get.
